Millimeter wave technology promises to boost next-generation network performance

TOKYO – June 7, 2023 – Visban Corporation today announced that it was among the eight companies that received seed funding from Tokyo University through its “1st Round” program. Visban was selected for the promise of its millimeter wave technology in boosting next-generation wireless network performance.

Founded in 2017 together with corporate partners, Tokyo University’s “1st Round” Program provides grant funding to companies with promising technologies as well as support in forging strategic relationships with major corporations.

“Being selected by Tokyo University gave us access to major companies in Japan, which, in turn, allowed us to very quickly achieve our first major technology milestone,” said founder and CEO S.B. Cha. “We encourage all early-stage technology start-ups to join the program.”

Cha, formerly CEO of Kinestral Technologies (now Halio) and previous founder of multiple companies, co-founded Visban with Arokia Nathan, also a serial entrepreneur who was formerly professorial chair of photonic systems and displays at Cambridge University and current Bye-Fellow at Darwin College; and Ryosuke Kuwada, an experienced executive who is currently a board member of Japan Display, Inc. and RS Technologies.
