Visban Demonstrates Glass-Based Millimeter Wave Technology

Innovative proof-of-concept device made with ITRI marks significant milestone

TOKYO and TAIPEI – 5 Jan 2024 — Pioneering the future of high-frequency wireless communications, Visban, Inc. has achieved a significant milestone with the successful demonstration of a glass-based millimeter wave (mmWave) proof-of-concept (PoC) device. This device, which utilizes Visban’s advanced technology, represents a significant advancement in the field.

Developed in collaboration with the Industrial Technology Research Institute (ITRI) in Taiwan, Visban’s PoC addresses the prevalent challenges in mmWave networks. These networks are known for their high data rates and ultra-low latency but are often limited in range and impeded by physical obstructions like buildings and trees. The achievement is a major step towards Visban’s goal of transforming high-frequency millimeter wave networks

“Our goal is to revolutionize the deployment of millimeter wave networks, making them both technologically advanced and economically viable,” said SB Cha, CEO and co-founder of Visban. “Our unique glass-based technology enables the efficient distribution of mmWave signals, navigating around obstacles and penetrating buildings; this reduces the need for costly base stations. Glass is a cornerstone in realizing our vision, and the successful development of the PoC operating at 28 GHz is a major step in our journey.”
