Collaboration will explore the use of V-Mesh™ to expand mmWave coverage
TOKYO — Sept. 28, 2026 — Visban today announced that it has joined dmwi (docomo millimeter wave initiative), a millimeter-wave initiative launched by NTT DOCOMO.
dmwi brings together NTT DOCOMO and partner companies to address technical challenges, conduct demonstrations, and help expand the use of millimeter-wave communications.
Through its participation in dmwi, Visban will contribute its expertise in millimeter-wave repeater technology and V-Mesh™ and collaborate on technical validation and demonstrations aimed at advancing practical mmWave deployment.
Expanding mmWave Coverage with V-Mesh™
Millimeter-wave spectrum provides the wide bandwidth needed to support high-speed, high-capacity 5G communications in dense urban environments, large facilities, industrial applications, and fixed wireless access (FWA).
However, mmWave signals have relatively limited range and are easily affected by buildings, walls, and other obstacles. These characteristics can make coverage expansion difficult and increase deployment costs.
Visban’s V-Mesh™ combines multiple orchestrator-controlled repeaters using its proprietary RF-on-Glass™ technology in a multi-hop architecture. An AI Orchestrator coordinates the repeaters and adjusts their operation based on network conditions.
The system is designed to extend mmWave coverage efficiently and flexibly while reducing the need for large-scale additions of base stations and fiber infrastructure.
